Golden August Morning

A song written from morning dew, golden light, and the quiet peace of realizing that summer is slowly passing, and I have found a place to return to.

Golden August Morning – keeping a late-summer morning close

It was a morning near the end of August.

When I stepped into the garden, dew was still resting on the young grass. In the light, each drop looked like a tiny piece of crystal. Birds were still singing somewhere, but their voices had grown thinner than in early summer. Perhaps many of them had already begun to leave, looking for warmer places before the cold arrived.

The sun came through the trees and covered the garden in a soft gold. I walked slowly. Wet grass brushed against my shoes, darkening the edges of the soles.

Nothing special happened.

Only dew, sunlight, a few bird calls, and a garden standing on the narrow threshold between two seasons.

And still, I felt strangely at peace.

In my twenties, I used to move through many places with an easy restlessness. I always wanted to see one more city, one more stretch of land, one more horizon. Back then, I thought beauty usually lived somewhere far away, and freedom meant always being on the road.

Now I am still standing in nature, but the feeling has changed.

Peace no longer comes from how wide the world looks in front of me. It comes from knowing that, inside me, there is a place to return to. I have a family, love, and a happiness tucked into the very small things of each day. That gives me the strength to stand still, look more closely, and notice how beautiful the morning garden really is.

Summer is leaving. Autumn has begun to call, very softly. Time keeps moving, as it always has.

But in that moment, I did not want to hold on to the old season, and I did not need to hurry into the new one. I only wanted to be there, take a deep breath, and let the peace of the garden make its way into me.

Golden August Morning was written from that moment.

This is a song about the crossing between what has been and what is coming; about the small ache of realizing that time is passing; but also about the gratitude of being able to say:

I am here. I am home. I am no longer restless, no longer alone.

Some mornings pass quickly.

And some mornings we want to keep with us for a long time.

For me, it was this late-August morning.

🌿 Today, look up at the sky more than at the screen.

Take one very slow breath.

Every seed needs time to sprout.

Every journey begins with one very small step.

Thank you for spending a little time walking through this garden.
